Town Centre Buses and the Inner Relief Road
The original proposal for the pedestrianisation of the A6 was that buses should be banned. After considerable lobbying by Action for a Better Charnwood (ABC) and others, there is to be a one year trial with buses being allowed to traverse the pedestrian area only from the north, once the ring road is completed. A decision will then be made as to whether the initial proposal for a ban should be adopted.
Bus passengers will have further to walk than many of those arriving by car. Please protest to your County Councillor modifying our suggested letter as appropriate. This can be found on this link. |
The suggested text for a letter to your local councillor appears below in Microsoft Word and pdf formats. Please amend as you see fit. |

There's no doubt about it, Charnwood is a great place to live - it's in a fantastic location, has good access to forests and natural areas, a rich history, a multicultural society, fine buildings and good parks.
• But could it be better?
• Would you like it to be?
• Can you think of ways that it could be improved?
It begins with each of us. We have to take responsibility for our part in the process. What we do or don't do matters. So while you are browsing this Web site, reflect on what you can do to help make Charnwood a better place to live, work or visit.
